Biography
Robin is a passionate recording artist and singer/songwriter whose music embodies a progressive and inclusive theological understanding of God's love. Inspired by the teachings of Jesus, Robin believes in the transformative power of love—encapsulated in the greatest commandments: to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself.
Robin's musical journey began in the conservative Evangelical church, where he first found his voice singing with his family gospel group, traveling the eastern United States. His early experiences in high school chorus and small ensembles paved the way for his acceptance into the NC Governor’s School for choral music in Winston-Salem. After graduating from high school, he continued to hone his musical talents at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, singing in both the men's and mixed glee clubs while earning his degree in pharmacy.
For a decade, Robin was part of the award-winning male trio Set Free, sharing his vocal talents and passion for uplifting music. Following the group's disbandment, he embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut inspirational album, “A New Direction,” in 2007.
In 2025, Robin released his fourth solo album, “Music From The Margins,” a heartfelt collection that reflects his evolved theological understanding of an all-embracing, all-loving God. This album serves as a dedication to those who have faced exclusion by society or the church, with the lead track, “Shake The Dust Off Your Feet,” resonating deeply with themes of resilience and acceptance.
Robin is a staunch advocate for the sacred worth of every individual, affirming that everyone is loved by God, regardless of where they are on their journey. With a heart for the marginalized, he firmly believes that "all means all."
In addition to sacred music, Robin crafts and covers songs that celebrate life, conveying messages of love, inclusion, social justice, and acceptance. He recognizes the importance of addressing current social issues with clarity and authenticity, creating a new space for progressive theological perspectives through his music.
